EssenceAI Spira App

This Spira app, EssenceAI, is a developer tool that simplifies the process of comprehending code. It offers a chat-based experience to dive deep into any Git repository. EssenceAI helps to improve understanding of a repository's structure and logic using the power of semantic search and Large Language Models (LLMs).

This tool aims to assist developers in reducing the time required to start development on new features or to modify code within an unfamiliar codebase. It facilitates efficient exploration of repositories, enabling swift navigation and precise searches within extensive codebases.

The widget within the Spira App makes API calls to EssenceAI. The GitHub repository link is shared with EssenceAI to parse through the code, which in turn calls GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 to answer questions on the repository.

EssenceAI does not store your code or chat history. All private repository data is AES encrypted. We use OpenAI to provide the service. OpenAI does not use your source code for training. OpenAI is SOC2, GDPR, and CCPA compliant.

Using the SpiraApp

Upon system wide activation of the Spira app, users are prompted to input the GitHub URL of the repository they wish to understand.

• Next, users are prompted to input their access token in case the repo is private. For public repositories, users will automatically jump to the next step.

• Next, users are prompted to select the branch.

• Upon submission, the embedding process begins during which the repository is loaded into the chat interface. This may take a few minutes.
• Once loaded, users enter a chatbot interface where they can pose questions in natural language.

• Additionally, EssenceAI enables users to specify the folder from which they wish to inquire.



This Spira app accelerates the process of understanding complex repositories, streamline decision-making for project dependencies, and enhance code search efficiency, ultimately reducing development time and effort.
